Rock & Roll Panto's.

Now in its second year at the newly refurbished City Varieties in Leeds the Rock & Roll Panto's have really taken off and this year's production of Cinderella written by Peter Rowe and directed by Vik Sivalingam certainly held the audience. The stunning set and costumes, designed by Ali Allen and effective lighting designed by Jason Salvin really brought it to life. The in house lighting stock was all but used up to create the many effects required, relying on LED fixtures rather than fresnels etc to provide the washes resulting in a huge choice of colour. Mainly these were focused onto the set portals and back drop to add depth to the otherwise small stage. Side light played a part to separate the band area from the main down stage acting area and as most of the actors are never off the stage for long this proved vital in creating the romantic moods or intense colours for all the musical numbers. 2012 has been a busy year for the PLS team and finishing on this design high was amazing, here’s to a happy and prosperous new year!
